Kensington is a small, accredited private early learning
center with preschool through first grade classrooms. We
are dedicated to the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual
growth of young children. While we initiate early
literacy and mathematics in all our classes, we also
maintain a safe, loving and fun environment for our
students. We believe that a child's first experience in an
educational atmosphere is the most important, and we
strive to provide an environment that encourages
discovery and learning through play and academic
instruction.

Our preschoolers learn to recognize their alphabet (sight
and sound), write their names, basic counting, 2D & 3D
shapes, Spanish and learning ASL, American Sign
Language. Pre Kindergarten takes their learning to the
next level. Phonics, pre-reading and math are daily
subjects, as is writing.

We are also firm believers in the arts. Music and some
form of arts and crafts are part of our afternoons. In
kindergarten we also learn about art history, music
appreciation and music composers. All our students are
comfortable with both pop music and classical! We also
offer weekly dance classes through On-Site Dance
Company of Eugene.

Our full day kindergarten program uses an accelerated
curriculum, with wrap around care, so you do not have to
find an after school program as well, for those 2 hour
kindergarten programs in public schools. Our daily
lessons also include Spanish and Music. We also include
an afternoon PE class that includes basic yoga stretches,
talk of nutrition, and time honored jumping jacks and
jogging in place!

Our 2008 fall term starts our Kindergarten- first grade
combo class. It's an exciting addition to our little school!
Students that have graduated from our kindergarten will
get first choice, before we offer open enrollment in late
August.

All our children have a fun filled day and as much
outdoor activities as weather allows, after all, this IS
Oregon! Recess follows a "rain or shine" policy.

Our teachers are all ECE (Early Childhood Ed.) certified
and take continuing education classes yearly. Our
kindergarten and Spanish teacher's have college degrees
in elementary education.

Kensington has a uniform dress code .    It may be
purchased through Dennis Uniforms. We find this helps
the children see each other as equals. They also seem to
be far more respectful and eager to learn. And, our
parents tell us it's a wonderful solution to those mornings
where their children can't find something to wear!

Among our frequent family events we also have two open
houses, an in-house graduation ceremony for our Pre-K, a
"proper" graduation ceremony for our Kindergarten, a
Nativity play with a Christmas concert, and a spring
concert .

Our main goal is to instill a lifelong love of learning, good
moral values and Christian faith. We like the traditional
approach to school, and expect our children to have
manners and to treat each other with respect and
kindness. Following the Golden Rule is our main goal for
our students!
